Design Trends For 2023

Trends come and go each year. Whether it is Coastal Grandma, bold colors, or maximalist prints. It can feel overwhelming to try to keep your home on trend each year or even throughout the year. I suggest choosing the trend that you feel most connected to or that fits the way you want your home to feel. No need to make your home feel or look like someone else’s!

But in true designer fashion, here are a few trends that I hope are staying strong for 2023.

Neolithic Influence

Ah the rise of Neolithic Influence in the interior design world. These raw, earthy textures and shapes are inspiring not just home accessories, but also furniture. I love the organic feel of these pieces and the material simplicity that they have. Think sculptural side tables, dramatic backsplashes, and decorative vases. These pieces act as artwork in the home and command attention.

Character-Driven Design

Now this I can get on board with! I am seeing a lot of clients shifting away from perfect rooms and opting instead for cozier more personal spaces with layered textiles, collected art, and a mix of old and new furniture. A collected look for warmth, depth, and character is becoming popular due to extreme minimalism the past years.

Focus On The Light

Ambient lighting plays a huge role in giving a space a feeling. I believe lighting is becoming more sculptural and will become more of a focus in the home. Think oversized pendants, sculptural sconces, and dramatic floor lamps. Lighting will be more like artwork in the home and create a statement this year.

Modern-Traditional Style

With the shift of creating a more personality-driven home, the focus is once again on warmth, hospitality, and comfort. Mix and matching eras is at the forefront allowing design to be more attainable budget-wise. No longer is Traditional just your grandma’s living room. The updated, classic look of Modern Traditional creates an inviting but timeless look.

Wellness Priority

The craziness of the world around us has set the tone for slowing down and practicing more mindful living. This has been trending, if you will, for the last few years. Healthy spaces in the home along with low-tox design is on the uprising. Your home should not just feel good, but help you live well.

Until next time,
